Frequently Asked Questions

An NDIS approved Chiropractor is a Chiropractor who has met the requirements set by the NDIS to provide services to NDIS participants. This includes having the appropriate qualifications, insurance and experience to provide safe and effective Chiropractic care.

Australia has two systems for government-funded support and care – the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) if you’re diagnosed under age 65 and the Aged Care system if you’re aged 65 and over.

The NDIS provides financial support to people living with a disability. Aged care, on the other hand, refers to services and support provided to older individuals who may need help with daily tasks due to aging or physical limitations.

The NDIS does fund chiropractic services as part of its allied health services. Most NDIS participants are covered for Chiropractic care as part of their NDIS plan under Improved Daily Living (CB Daily Activity). Chiropractic care can be included in an individual’s NDIS plan to help with treatment and management of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. It is important to note that the specific Chiropractic services covered by the NDIS may vary depending on an individual’s unique needs and goals.

Once you have an approved plan that has funding for Chiropractic services, you will be able to start immediately. There is no wait time. You do not have to wait for NDIS approval or for your support coordinator to grant you permission as long as Chiropractic services is included in your plan.

You may be eligible to receive such support if :

  • You are aged between 7 and 65 years old.
  • You an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder.
  • You have a disability caused by a permanent impairment.
  • You usually need disability specific support to complete daily life activities.
  • You meet the requirements for disability or early intervention as outlined by the NDIS.

Once your application has been reviewed and approved, the funding is provided for your selected services.

To be eligible for aged care in Australia, you must meet certain criteria. These include being an Australian citizen or permanent resident, living in Australia, and being aged 65 years or older (or 50 years or older for certain Indigenous Australians).

You may also be eligible for aged care if you are younger than 65 years of age and have a disability, illness, or frailty that makes it difficult for you to live independently.

To determine your eligibility for aged care, you can contact the Department of Health’s My Aged Care team by calling 1800 200 422 or visiting their website at https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/.

They can help you understand the types of aged care services that are available and assist you in determining which ones may be suitable for you based on your individual circumstances.
